Today marks the release of INTO THE UNBEING PART ONE. To be really reductive, the series is ALIEN meets ANNIHILATION. It follows four climate scientists who venture into the mouth of an ancient eldritch corpse.
Part One collects the first four chapters of the series into a single volume. Each chapter is narrated from a different POV. With each of these introductory chapters touching on the internal thoughts from each member of the team. So you get a variety of perspectives on the horrors within the holobiont/the world at large.
You also get vast spreads and expansive layouts courtesy of my co-creator Hayden Sherman. Hayden is the visionary artist behind Batman: Dark Patterns and Absolute Wonder Woman. I promise you’ve never seen anything quite like what they do on these pages.
We wanted to create a book that felt sprawling, alien, and unlike anything else on the stands. We’re using scale in ways that dwarf our characters. As a reader we want you to feel like you’re lost in a harsh alien wilderness… all localized in the body of some titanic dying creature. Sound fun?
Imagine Journey to the Center of the Earth except its set inside Godzilla and you’re on the right track. There’s no telling what (or who) wound up inside this creature.
Into The Unbeing is for fans of ANNIHILATION, AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS or SCAVENGER'S REIGN. Each chapter also features epistolary pages (from a variety of strange POVs) that expand on the madness inside this once great creature.
Here’s a page from the journal of mountaineer Harold Crichton. Last seen on Lhotse in April, 1968.
We wanted readers to feel a sense of losing themselves in nature. Moved by the beauty and humbled by the indifference of the natural world. When you’re out in the middle of nowhere, there’s only one misstep between the awe-inspiring beauty of the world and absolute nothingness.
So, if you’re feeling brave, take the plunge…
Lose yourself inside its innards.
PART TWO
And in two weeks, INTO THE UNBEING PART TWO starts hitting in single issues. It’s everything about Part One but ramped up to eleven.
Do you hear that?
A new world calls…
